Traffic Light Tool

Traffic Light Tool

The traffic light tool is designed to help you think about the times when you have started to think about harming yourself. The tool asks you to think about how you feel and behave when you are thinking of self-harm or have harmed yourself, versus when you are feeling well and are not thinking of self-harm. The traffic light tool also asks you to think about what things can trigger your self-harm.

Fill in the boxes below to use this tool as a reminder to notice when you are feeling triggered or to notice what you are doing or feeling when you are thinking about self-harm. You can download the tool once you are finished by clicking the GENERATE PDF OR SEND IT BY EMAIL button at the bottom of the page. You can then keep the tool to refer back to when you are feeling similar emotions in the future.
