Accessing 1:1 support with Self-Harm Network Scotland
We know that with good, compassionate support, there is real hope for people who self-harm. Accessing the right support at the right time is critical.
All of our Mental Health & Wellbeing Peer Practitioners have their own, unique, lived experience of self-harm, so you will be supported by someone who ‘gets it’. Our Peer Practitioners have been trained to support others experiencing similar issues, to assist their recovery. Our team offer recovery focused person-centred support, which means we can work flexibly with you using our own experiences, tools and advice to help you take steps towards recovery.
If you are looking for support for your self-harm, we’re here to help anyone aged 12+ in Scotland.
Simply, complete the form on our Contact us page, to refer yourself for 12-15 sessions of ongoing one-to-one support around your self-harm. One-to-one support sessions usually last 1-hour and are delivered over the phone, via video call or through text support. However, we want the support to work for you and when we reach out, we can have a chat about what would work best for you. Please leave a comment in the comments box if you have any accessibility requirements we should be aware of before reaching out to you by email/phone.
We get that some people might find it daunting to get in touch, so we wanted to let you know what happens when you contact us for support:
What to expect...
Step 1: Once you (or someone referring on your behalf), submit the contact form, you will be contacted as soon as possible. This will be an initial acknowledgement email, which will include info to let you know if we have a waiting list, and how long we expect the waiting list to be. The email will also contain some additional places you can get support while you wait for one of our Practitioners to get in touch with you.
We understand it can be difficult to wait for the support you need, and wanted to share here that we have a Live Chat available on our website, every evening from 6pm-10pm, to support you if you need help in the meantime.
Step 2: A Peer Practitioner will get in touch via your preferred contact method to arrange some time to talk to you about your support. The next step explains a bit more about what you can expect from this.
Step 3: A call will take place to chat about how you are feeling and to find out what support might look like for you. We’ll let you know what you can expect from us, how we can support you and agree on what your support will look like for you.
Step 4: Your one-to-one support will begin, and you’ll regularly meet with your Peer Practitioner for your support sessions. You can contact us at any time on: [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns regarding your support.
